Privacy Policy

At Shenanigans Press, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you interact with us, such as by signing up for our newsletter or visiting our website.

What Data We Collect

We may collect the following personal data:

  • Your email address when you sign up for our newsletter.

  • Your name, if you choose to provide it.

  • Technical data, such as your IP address, browser type, and device information, collected through cookies or analytics tools when you visit our website.

How We Use Your Data

We collect and process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To send you newsletters and promotional content related to Shenanigans Press.

  • To inform you about new book releases, special offers, and updates.

  • To improve our website and user experience through analytics.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data based on your explicit consent when you sign up for our newsletter. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the 'unsubscribe' link in any email or by contacting us directly.

Sharing Your Data

We use trusted third-party services to manage and process your data, including:

  • MailerLite, for managing our email subscriptions and newsletters. MailerLite complies with GDPR and ensures the security of your data.

  • Analytics tools, to improve our website and understand user behavior (e.g., Google Analytics).

We will never sell or rent your personal data to other companies.

Automated Comment Responses on Social Media

We operate a private automation tool (the "Comment Keyword Responder app") on Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts that we own and manage. This section explains how that tool handles information.

Purpose. The tool monitors public comments left on our own Facebook and Instagram posts. When a comment contains one of a small set of pre-configured trigger keywords (each tied to a specific book), the tool posts a public reply comment containing a link to that book.

What the tool receives. When you leave a public comment on one of our Facebook or Instagram posts, Meta delivers the following information to the tool via a webhook:

  • The text of your comment.

  • The numeric ID of your comment.

  • Your public Meta user ID and, where applicable, your public display name as it appears on Meta's platforms.

  • The ID of the post you commented on.

The tool only receives information about public comments on accounts that we own and have explicitly connected to it. It does not receive your private messages, your friends list, your profile information, or any other content you post elsewhere on Meta's platforms.

What we store. The tool stores no personal data. Incoming webhook events are processed in memory, a reply is generated if a trigger keyword matches, and the event is then discarded. We do not retain user IDs, display names, comment text, or any other personal information from these events.

What we do with that information. If your comment contains one of the trigger keywords, the tool uses Meta's Graph API to post a public reply comment on the same post, containing a link to the relevant book. If your comment does not contain a trigger keyword, the tool takes no action and the event data is discarded.

Third parties. The tool runs on Cloudflare Workers infrastructure and communicates only with Meta's Graph API. No personal data from comments is sent to any other third party.

Your rights regarding this tool. Because the tool stores no data about you, there is no personal data to access, correct, export, or delete on its systems. To stop the tool from processing your future comments on our posts, simply do not include the trigger keywords in your comments, or delete your comment, or block our Facebook or Instagram accounts.

Data Retention

We will retain your personal data for as long as you remain subscribed to our newsletter. If you unsubscribe, your data will be deleted from our mailing list within 30 days unless retention is required for legal purposes.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • To access a copy of your personal data.

  • To request corrections to your data if it is inaccurate or incomplete.

  • To request the deletion of your data ('right to be forgotten').

  • To withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing from our newsletter.

  • To file a complaint with a data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated.
